One thing people forget is where "Happy Holidays" was derived from and its meaning, the word Holiday was derived from Holy Day.
I completely agree with one exception. If someone chooses to say Merry Christmas, great, I will say Merry Christmas in return, if they choose to say Happy Hanukkah, I will say happy Hanukkah back, or Happy Kwanzaa and so on. They are merely letting you know that that is the holiday they are celebrating and are wishing you the same happiness during this festive time. I am Christian and celebrate Christmas, I say Merry Christmas and friends of mine who are Jewish reply with Happy Hanukkah. There is no offense intended and non taken. If someone chooses to say Happy Holidays then wonderful. This is a very silly thing to argue about.
Merry Christmas,
Happy Holidays,
Happy Kwanzaa, and Happy any other celebrations you may be having. I take offense to non other than rudeness and ignorance, and then I simply ignore them.
